Police say they responded to an emergency call about a man threatening suicide shortly before 8 p.m. last night.
When they arrived, the man was acting violently and threw kitchen knives at the officers. They retired from the home and called in the Emergency Task Unit.
Before communications could be established and after seeing the man try to light a fire, ETU members entered the home and found him in the basement where the officer was wounded in the melee.
The 21-year-old Lincoln man was taken into custody for a bail hearing today. He is facing a number of charges including attempted murder.
