Richard Berry turfed from council meeting
By Mike Cloutier on Mar 2, 2010 at 11:57 am in News, Town Hall
About 12 hours after he registered as a candidate in the municipal election, Richard Berry was kicked out of a town council meeting Monday night.
He was repeatedly warned by planning committee chairman Tim Whitfield to temper his remarks while he spoke in opposition to the Bay Beach project.
. . . continued
“I’m not going to listen to you,” Berry responded.
After about two minutes in his presentation to council, he questioned whether councillors were receiving under the table benefits from the developers.
Whitfield declared Berry’s opportunity to speak over, and when Berry refused to surrender his time, the chairman called a recess as Berry stomped around shouting, “This is Gestapo.”
Police were called during the break as a precaution, but Berry and his companion Bill Brunton left the building before a constable arrived.
Berry had registered Monday morning to run for election in Ward 2, Rick Shular’s ward in the Fort Erie south end and Lakeshore area.
Berry was defeated by Whitfield in 2006 for the Ward 4 seat in Ridgeway and Thunder Bay — a post Berry had held for four terms and 12 years starting in 1994.
His time on council was marked by similar intemperate displays.

Is there a competency test one must pass before registering for election?

He should not even be allowed in the building after all the stunts he’s pulled.

Mike;
At one time, you were kind enough to forward a copy of your publication and as I have told you in the past, I thoroughly enjoy your outspoken point of view and I might add I agree at most times. It is unfortunate that most writers don’t write their articles from their hearts as you do.
Bedst regards
John

Maybe it’s about time people start answering the questions asked of them rather than pointing the finger and shouting “get that man some meds.”
It’s the most obvious reply when someone knows they’ve been busted doing something wrong.

I don’t know Richard Berry (and perhaps better for it) but the man does have balls and says what he thinks (and probably what others wish they’d said)!! Are the people who voted to allow a barricade blocking the public from accessing the historical Pt Abino lighthouse part of this screw-up too? Lessons learned, people!!! pay attention!

Why is it when elected officials disagree with mr berry he resorts to calling them names and accusing them of being paid off? Why , when others disagree with his point of view, does he rant that they are corrupt and only he is right?
He may be right on his point of view but when the rest feel he is wrong then leave the field of battle and fight another day or another way.
In all the years i have been observing mr berry and his views, i have found him to be anti-everthing and a big mouth blowhard who couldnt argue his way out of a paper bag.
his past antics have ruined any creditability anyone would have in his point of view on any topic.
